My goodness the little prince is getting big! What sweet pictures, I'm glad Mary can still have some sense of normalcy in her life.

But the "informally dressed" part - I didn't know she was supposed to be dressed up all the time. Roll Eyes She looks just fine, she's just being a mommy and enjoying the day with her son!

I know, apparently dressing casual in shorts and a shirt is now a decidedly Australian thing. Don't know what those Danes do when it gets warm outside!

She looks good, however, the overall impression is a bit off. I think that frankly, this is something that she should wear in private, given her position. Those shorts are common in Scandinavia - both men and women wear them (CP Victoria has a couple of pairs as well), but members of royalty - indeed, most women her age - do not tend to wear them rolled up the way she has hers, but rather release the folds and fasten the sides in a manner which makes the cuffs longer.

On Mary it looks as if she is undergoing some sort of mid-life crisis and therefore trying to attract attention through her choice of outfit. She has worn shorts before in public, but they have either been reasonably above, or on the knee. Somehow it looks rather tacky on her, as the wife of the future king. She is not on a boat, or in her private garden, she is out in public. What is she trying to prove? After all this time in the royal family and all that princess training she received, one would think that she would have grasped simple nuances such as these. The mid-life crisis thing occurred to me initially, when I saw that of all her guests at CP Frederiks birthday party, her dress was by far the shortest. It was an interesting dress, but again, something was just a bit off.

Little Christian is cute, as always.

Thanks for the link marine!
