Ooh. Diana was at Princess Margaret's 50th birthday bash at Buckingham Palace in the November of 1980, and her engagement to Chazza was announced 2 months later.........

lmao

I think there are those who will the fact Kate will be there is a sign of acceptance from the RF and at another Royal event. Except they forget the fact Chelsy was invited also A La the Peter & Autumn wedding.

Of course they gonna get invited how mean of Charles if he didn't invite both his son's girlfriends.  xD

Here's another article about Kate and Chelsy attending Charles' birthday celebration in November:

http://news.sawf.org/Gossip/52612.aspx

I think this shows that HM considers Wills and Harry to be serious about their girlfriends.  IMO an invitation to attend a formal party at Buckingham Palace doesn't mean either of the couples is about to get engaged in the next few weeks or anything, but it does show that the Queen recognises both women as serious relationships for her grandsons.

This is the second time Kate and Chelsy will attend a Royal Family function in which HM and Prince Phillip are both present, the first being Peter and Autumn's wedding.  I think Kate and Chelsy's invitation to Buckingham Palace is a big milestone for both girlfriends.

I agree Mapleleaf, HM and Charles are showing respect to Princes William and Harry here.

Does it mean marriage for both Woman into the RF who knows?

I do think not only is it a big step for both of them, it will also be a massive test for both Women being there, because it's not just a birthday dinner for Charles? Those two will probably (and it does sound harsh in way) find themselves being judged on everything they do, say, or wear at the dinner party. They will be both find themselves in front of world leaders and not just the royals themselves, and certain protcols will be followed while sitting at the dinner table.

They will get trained on it of course....but I wonder if any catty remarks will come out in the press from so called courtiers telling us what Kate or Chelsy or even both women did wrong at the dinner party?

We may get tidbits, from some Palace staff.... I am watching  The Learning Channel documentary on Diana and they have quotes from Courtiers, who were revealed after they left the Queen's service, but they were telling the press things about Diana and Charles from the time of the Courtship. The program said the Queen told Diana one day just after she married Charles, watch what what you say and do in front of the staff, because there are leaks from Palace staff.

Using the critiques I have read in this forum for both girls; I hope Kate starts looking for something real special - dress mode, and Chelsy doesn't use the wide laugh mode.  That would be basically it. Both girls seem to know how to hang around in their boyfriends circles, don't think they will separate from them during the ball.

I always had the impression that the press makes much more out of things like this than the royals themselves do. Autumn was introduced to the family after 6 months. Edward's ex was introduced to the family as well, spend nights in BP and attended family dinners etc. And while Autumn eventually married Peter (4 years later) Edward's ex never made it to the altar. The press just didn't make a big deal out of it because they are not interested in Peter and Edward. I think when it comes to g/f's the Windsors act like any other family. They are welcoming and include the woman into their family activities - especially when they are longterm g/fs - but that doesn't say anything about a wedding. First William has to make up his mind and say he wants to marry Kate then he'll need to get HM's approval - not the other way around. The Windsors just do what any other decent family would.

I think the "Knees Up" is also a tongue-in-cheek reference to Kate's recent outing with lots of thigh showing in the car as she left the nightclub.

I was wondering if we will see pictures of the girls in their ballgowns or will there be a news blackout on this as it is a private party?

Charles will be 60 on Friday 14 November and I am wondering if there will be a 2nd private family party at HIGHGROVE and if the girls will attend this too.

He's 60 and note the KING yet.  While this may relieve William, I am sure it is great cause for concern for Waity! What will she do for another 35 years Huh?  except pump out 3 kids. We know what she'll be wishing for as Chuck blows out those candles.

how many of you guys want to bet that the birthday party will all be about Kate, even if they have photo it will Kate that is going to be on the cover and front and center forthe whole night, i think they might even photo copy  Kate and the Queen photo to turn the event into Kate homecoming party event, some how i think Charles party will not be about him but Kate like last year 60 birthdayparty about Camila when the press called Kate the Queen of the ball even though no photo but somehow the dailymail turn it into Kate and Chelsy might not come because of school but Kate we all know she will not miss the opportunity to all night long to the paparazzi.

I'd hope Chelsy will see to it that she goes. Wink

The young royals will most likely take center cover, just like the Hello ! deal of P&A, 21 pics of PH, 17 pics of CD, 13 pics of KM. But since PW will go hopefully in this occasion with no strange wedding of a 'friend' last minute, most likely if there will be pics or articles, it will be center staged to him, the 2nd in line to the throne.   This foursome sell more than the birthday boy or the rest of the oldies, its just like that.

Agreed! However if either of them wear black, I swear I will fly to England to personally knock their heads together!  37

I don't think it would have been very nice of the Queen not to invite the girls as they've been with the Princes for a long time. Especially after they were invited to Peter's wedding. I would cause less fuss to invite them then not too. This is Kate's chance to show that she can behave appropriately in the Queen's presence and senior Royals. There have been a few occasions in the past where her behaviour may not have been seen as appropriate. This is her chance to show the Royals she belongs with them. Same goes for Chelsy though she's less of a worry imo. Less hope Kate wears something that is neither see-through or too short. No boots either.

I'll help pay for your legal defense!

Anyway, if Kate is eventually engaged to William then so be it. There's nothing I can do. Being invited to something like this is pretty significant and I think it's also a way to put Kate and Chelsy to the test to see how they behave and dress. If it's made all about Kate I'll really pity Charles.

No doubt. Glamour over substance.

It's a private party chances are Kate will make sure that she's seen by some paparazzo. At this point I think she'll be out shopping and the store will be sure to leak what she bought. As for her boots, it would be beyond tacky to wear them with a dress.

Charles would SEETHE if Kate is mentioned more than he is. And even if there are no pics the ppers will play up the STUNNINGNESS, the Flawless Outfit, and how she and Wills danced, she bumpng nd grinding then  the SLOW dance with a postage stamp that couldn't fit between them.
