If she's going to spend taxpayer money, or her parent's money on a degree, why not something substantial? If she went into something that required a disciplined committment, she would set a great example.

btw......she looks pregnant in most of those photographs. What a rude comment! It's comments like these that encourage eating disorders...I'd like to see you post a picture of yourself on the internet and I'll make a cruel judgment about you!

The History of Ideas? Is that the vaguest possible title for a degree? I remember those days when I could stay out late the night before then get up early to go to class....

Can't see what is rude about looking pregnant........maybe she is. The day I become camera crazy is the day you can make comment about me.

OMG... Had it been me being referred to as "that poor poor girl"... I would be devastated.. Why would someone print that type of remark. She is only a young girl. Granted I wish there was less of her in the news as she really is not contributing to anything, presently. I wonder if these young royals every require counselling? I mean, if your photo is in the paper every other day and then there is a comment section and if you read that comment section and 1/2 the comments are NOT in your favour, wouldn't you think after awhile, you would need to see a shrink?

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/royals/article1730900.ecePRINCESS Beatrice prepares for student life by shopping at cut-price fashion chain Primark. I thought it was forbidden to take pics of someone inside? Or do shopping malls count as public space where pap pics are allowed?

What exactly is History of Ideas? And what sort of job does one have afterwards?

I wouldn't be sympathetic about her photograph constantly appearing,Kate. She knows full well the haunts where she will be photographed but it doesn't stop her going and glaikitly looking straight to camera either.

Yes, I am aware it's History and History of Ideas. I just don't know what one does afterwards.

^ After her degree im betting she does nothing... or if she does it will be half a**ed anyway. Hopefully she grows up a little bit at university and learns responsibility. She could be a good rolemodel for young girls if she wants to be. I hope she knuckles down and studies what ever the degree is, and stays out of trouble and hopefully out of nightclubs!!

Chances are she'll be cutting ribbons and making speeches written by the courtiers.

For those of you who might not be aware, History of Ideas (known in the States as Intellectual History) is one of the most competitive fields within the social sciences, and prepares one for much interdisciplinary work that could come in handy for someone preparing to do diplomacy or inter-cultural relations.

If she wanted to fit in with the other students why was she shouldering an expensive designer bag? Did she hold a photog session prior to classes? (being sarcastic here)

She should know by now that it's declasse to flaunt one's material advantages in front of people who are not so fortunate. She might be the only person who would use a Louis Vuitton handbag for college. As for her degree, why not take something like international diplomacy, something specifically in that field?

Yes, I've always wondered why princesses need to flaunt their designer clothes. I mean, they are princesses after all. We all know they are better off than we are.
As for her degree, I think History of Ideas is a very interesting field in itself. What I meant to suggest was that it can also be a useful degree, for example for a future in diplomacy. Of course, it can also open doors to other areas. I have no idea what Beatrice herself intends to do with it.
I wish her the best of luck at uni.
