It appears Prince William is planning to whisk Kate off to do a spot of skiing this Easter.

£40k. Yikes. Hate to be pessimistic but this might be about spoil all the prince's hardwork this week. It's nice he wants to take people skiing but this isn't doing his image many favours.

'The friends will all be paying their share – although William will be treating Kate."

PP feeling the credit crunch more likely, or parents refusing to butt in this time. Wink

I thought, Queen and Prince Charles urged both princes give up expensive skiing this year for credit crunch as shining example. This will damage his new better image and again idle princes with greedy GF waiting for prince's ring. His business, he will be seen as greedy idiot and his idleness.I hope, Hazza is staying in barracks and having his chicken in curry and good fun with mates.Sometimes is linked with people than with special places.Who did tell all informations where and what organise the skiing and where?Mids or organisation?I bet on Katie Waitie, cos one blonde is going to visit Prince Trust's concert on 7th of April and people say, Katie is jealous but mainly her upper class status.Gee, she's married. But Katie Waitie doesn't want Camilla, doesn;t want Charles, Hazza, but Pippa is Ok.I think, Mids is jealous.Who will pay for their thee shares?Charles, isn't?Cos Wills has his annual salary 30.000 quits and something from mother's trust fund but not too much.Middleton will pay cca 6000 - 9000 quits for both girls? They are greedy social climbers, both, Wisperia Sisters.I love, when Wills will go to boring charity gig with classical music for his father's trust and green eyed Katie Waitie will be fuming. Some fun, Wills is boring, except his drunken nights.

I hope this isn't true because if it is big mistake, William! Take the girl on holiday fair enough but £40,000. £40,000 when the whole country is handling an economic breakdown. Here is their future King spending £40,000 on a ski holiday. It looks like he is taking the p*ss. I hope this isn't true or William has just spoilt a good week for himself and all the hardwork gone into restoring his image will be all for nothing.  Sad

oh yeah it's not a decided thing yet, they have to wait a word from the protection officers - perhaps and excuse if it doesn't happen....

the key here is "friends" if Kate goes along (which I really doubt) then she'll go as friend.  But I somehow doubt that this story is true.

Last time there were rumors that William wanted to go skiing without Kate, then he was summoned and he ended up going Scotland.  could be the same thing William is going without Kate

While reading the first part of this i was thinking oh how sweet they are going on a romantic break wub2, just the two of them, but then i got to the part where they are going with friends, why oh why can't they go away just the two of them, no friends, no Charles and Camilla just them.

This is not a romantic break, well not IMO, this is just a normal ski break he has planned with friends, and Kate appears to have just fit into the plans, oh and they say 'romance' is dead

And well lets see if it happens, if Charles is so worried about the public perception of William, then don't you think he may just suggest that such an expensive holiday is not the best idea

Is this story even true?  Wasn't he supposed to go skiing over Christmas.  Wasn't he supposed to go to Australia with Paris Hilton over New Years?   Wasn't he supposed to have married Kate at least a dozen times by now?

Who writes this stuff and more importantly, why do they write it?

Hasn't been decided? There is Katie backing herself up incase it doesn't happen. I hope it doesn't. Really hope it doesn't for the sake of William's image that he has been trying so hard to heal. Take the girl on holiday by all means but £40,000 is a bit excessive for anyone let alone William. I agree Sana, if Charles is so worried about William's image he won't let him do this for the obvious reason.

Not a good move, IMO. The Queen supposedly told her family to cut back, and if this article is true, apparently William could care less.

If so, then he is acting like a spoiled brat.

I don't mean to bash William, I actually like him. But I feel this is a very unwise move for him.  ohmy

I think that these articles about Williams countless holiday which never seem to happen are all to damage his image, for a while now the press have been on Anti william attack, the documentary, the articles about his lazyness, his proposing to Kate ( which i think they know will never happen) this all makes him look very bad, after all he is no longer golden boy, he is losing his looks, he isn't giving the press their royal wedding, and they are trying to force him into a corner

It annoys me how Wills has had such a good week and now we have this which puts the palace right back to square one as far as William is concerned. William will do himself justice not to go ahead with this just to put the press in their place and teach them not to trash his image. Fingerscrossed the palace will step in and tell William 'no' and I hope this isn't true in the first place, and is just another part of Nicholl's wild imagination.

Kate should be ashamed of herself if this is true. My parentals weren't comfy with my accepting from my boyfriend a computer and a dvd player later on and we had been going out for years.

William should be cutting back and Kate should not go unless she can pay her own way. This is mooching, no matter what gloss you put on it. It kind of proves that the Middletons aren't as wealthy as they put on and this has to be the most shameless thing Kate has done. If she paid her own way, I wouldn't think of her as a total leech, but this is so disgustingly blatant. It's not like Kate has been working a sixty hour work week and this is something that she does when she gets the chance every once in a while, this is something she's always done, this is just the most expensive apparantly and worst because the economic climate is hideous and getting worse.

I sincerely wonder if Kate has zero awareness of what is going on around her. If they both go William and Kate will get crucified and there may very well be either a riot or Parliament will demand more concessions from the royals. I simply cannot fathom at all why they would do this.

Much ado about nothing.
As usual the Mail has it wrong when it comes to details.
Here are the actual prices:

Quote
What it costs

From £2,106 per person, per week, in March and from £1,164 in late April; additional children are charged at £300 each. A six-day Davos/Klosters ski pass costs £176 adults; £70 children.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/snowandski/4960938/Chalet-Eugenia-Klosters-where-to-stay.html

Thousands of people are going skiing this year. William's friends are paying for their own holiday. IF any of them go.
I'm sure Kate could pay her own way if William didn't BUT she is his Lady and though his friends have to pay their way, she does not. That's how it works.

Thanks for giving us the CORRECT information Lucy.    ohmy £2,106 per person, per week is huge difference from £40,000!!

Katie Nicholl really has difficulty getting it right, doesn't she?  Roll Eyes Does she EVER check her information before it goes into print?

As for Wills paying for Kate, IF this story is true, (it's from Katie Nicholl, that automatically makes it suspicious) then why shouldn't he?  He's her boyfriend.  If a man can't even pay to take his own girlfriend on a holiday, what kind of man is he?  All girlfriends deserve to be taken away on a holiday paid for by their boyfriends, it's in the boyfriend handbook! I'm sure there are some really nice boyfriends who don't pay for their girlfriends' holiday.  I always thought that honor went to a husband.  I'd feel cheap if my boyfriend paid for my holiday, but it's ok for him to pay for meals though since he already does that when we go out.

Yeah, I mean dates are one thing, it's an honor to have a man take you out. It's another if he pays for you to go with him to a hotel. That's the sort of thing that men sometimes do with mistresses.

If my boyfriend wanted to take me to a ski lodge, I would insist on paying my own way and if I can't afford it, I wouldn't go.

I'm sure there are some really nice, or even wonderful boyfriends who don't pay for their girlfriend's holiday, I realise it depends on the financial circumstances.

My statement was directed towards boyfriends that are able to pay for such a holiday without enduring any financial hardship.  I am NOT saying I think that every time a boyfriend and girlfriend go on a holiday together it should be paid for by the boyfriend.  I do think a woman should be able to pay her own way, and I also think she should have enough personal pride to do so.

I also think that a boyfriend who is financially able to take his girlfriend on holiday ought to do so at least once, just because she's his girlfriend and he wants to take her on holiday.  By the same token, if a girlfriend is able to do so without enduring any financial hardship, she ought to do the same thing for her boyfriend, at least once.

That's why I said what I did.

Maybe Charles is picking up the tab on this one...he's wealthy in his own right so this is chump change for him..
Besides, who cares......there's people that don't have one pinch the wealth of the royals and they're skiing this
year......the credit crunch argument is old...
