http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1174622/Harry-saddles-official-visit-States.html

Quote
Harry has never been to the U.S. in an official capacity and when he visited Canada with his father in 1998 at the age of 13 was overshadowed by his elder brother, William, who had thousands of teenage girls screaming and fainting at the mere sight of him.
His recent split from long-term girlfriend, Chelsy Davy, can only add to his allure. 'It's going to be madness,' admitted one aide.
After the match a lavish party will be held at Pink Elephant Nightclub in New York City and Harry is expected to be making an appearance.
It is also understood that he will make time to visit several charity projects in the area and hopes to fit in a trip to Ground Zero to pay his respects to the victims of 9/11.
Clarence House declined to comment but a source told the Mail: 'The trip is in the early stages of planning but it is hoped Prince Harry will take part in a series of very poignant engagements.'
Sources said last night that it was Harry's first visit to the U.S. in either a private or public capacity.

The pig flew is all over NYC too. I hope he still comes. His doctors could put him on the TamiFlu anyway for precautions. I think William is going to be a little jealous though, cause he's always had more hype in the States, but Harry has grown up is a man with a full head of hair and NYC better up their threat level as I think the state will be bombarded with the ladies! Harry is going to take America by storm, just like his mom did. Maybe he will find his true love here, an American heiress like Amanda Hearst or Brydie Bell. yes

I am so excited for this, I agree William will probably be a bit jealous I remember the reaction here in Vancouver when they came in 98. William should do something like this too it would be so cool!

Untrue !!
These slipshod inaccurate DM articles are so annoying...we have pictures of Haz on TWO of his previous visits to the USA....one to Disney World  in Florida, and white water rafting in Colorado when he was a boy on hols with Mummy, Wills, their friend Harry Soames , Mrs. Soames ... and entourage.

I am thrilled he plans on coming to New York....wish he would make a National Tour...BUT as was pointed out...The Swine Flu is quickly growing in the US and his trip will likely be postponed until it's ran its course....BECAUSE, if he was only going to visit VIPS, it might be safe....BUT with him kindly planning to visit the slums et al....his possible exposure wouldn't be acceptable.

Both New York and New Jersey have cases, the first US death from this strain of influenza was yesterday in Houston , Texas and Governor Arnold Terminator in California has called a state of Emergency as it continues to spread across the state....
SMART airlines, buses and cruise ships are cancelling out going trips to and from Mexico but the foolish ones are still bringing  infected people in from Mexica, particularly to border states like California and Texas....I would think the airports in NY and NJ would be the source of the flu there.

Jenee, if you're serious about going.....I mean very serious in that you're already planning time off and
have got that plane ticket bought/almost bought.....than YOU my dear are appointed forum reporter and
most importantly PHOTOGRAPHER...
Not that you wouldn't be taking pictures anyways.....BUT.....if you don't already possess professional photography
skills, you must start taking classes now.

And, if you don't want to do the above, than I hope you have ALOT of memory on your camera because
no less 500* pics is a miminum requirement. crazyinlove

On a side note, I'm looking into going also.....we should make up t-shirts..

Lets see...the WHO has just declared a pandemia alert to 5 over top 6, which is really bad.

Source: who site
Quote
Phase 5 is characterized by human-to-human spread of the virus into at least two countries in one WHO region. While most countries will not be affected at this stage, the declaration of Phase 5 is a strong signal that a pandemic is imminent and that the time to finalize the organization, communication, and implementation of the planned mitigation measures is short.

Phase 6, the pandemic phase, is characterized by community level outbreaks in at least one other country in a different WHO region in addition to the criteria defined in Phase 5. Designation of this phase will indicate that a global pandemic is under way.

Pandemic alert 5 is all over the news.  The WHO site hasn't been updated with this latest news.

Hopefully by the time Harry travels to the USA, the above will be over !

Stix, you called it alright.  I'm sure that Harry with his "bad boy"/"cool boy" reputation should fill the venue and if you find out about tickets, could you let us all know.  Im thinking that since it is for charity then the tickets will be quite pricey, what's your thoughts?

Wannabe, is the update for the U.S. or for the UK? The Queen just met with Mexico a couple of weeks ago. I heard on CNN that the virus could incubate and come back at a later time. All these crazy things are happening, maybe Nostradamus was right?! On a brighter note, I live only a couple hours away from NYC, but I read that the event organizers are charging $1,000 a head to enter. So that would be about 2,000 pounds? Although I have not looked at the stock market to see whose money is worth what lately. I prefer denial!

1000 dollars is about 700 pounds Satrine

From what I can see, specific details of the visit are still being worked out. I'll need to find out exactly when and where he's going to be before I can figure out if I'll be able to go. I already have vacation time approved for memorial day weekend so hopefully he'll be around that weekend.

It looks like, if I can't get tickets to the polo match, there will be other events he's going to attend while he's in town... which is great! (Plus, I haven't been to ground zero either, so it would be nice to go whether or not he's there).

I'm certain if they let him go this will be headline news for most US outlets. I wish I could go ugh we have relatives in New York but my grad is around the same time and with the pandemic going around I'm freaked out to travel. I'll wait to find out more information before doing anything drastic but anyone who does goes take lots of pictures and keep us updated!!

Prince Harry To Make His First Official Visit To The U.S.--All Headline News

Your a true Harryite Stix! 21
stix u looks very happy with the news
20  Stix, when it comes to Harry, you ROCK!
laugh blush 21 aww.  too sweet.  i'm just glad i have lots of fellow Ites here to share the fun with!

you have no idea how excited i am about this.  like, seriously excited.  i actually shake when i think about it!  i'm making plans to get to NYC but God help me if i manage it! laugh   on May 30th if you see some girl getting carted off by medics....that might be me.

btw...i was thinking....doesn't Harry's visit to Australia count as his first official visit?  he was under 21, and he only made one official visit (to the Sydney zoo...everything else was private) so maybe that's why it's not being counted.  ditto Lesotho.  i'm not complaining trust me. laugh  its just a little surprising that his first official visit would be to America instead of one of the Commonwealth countries.  again...i'm not complaining. laugh  we are old allies though so maybe its not that surprising.  speaking of which maybe he'll check out some military stuff?

Maybe Prince Harry will pop up to Niagara Falls (USA - side). That will be as close as he gets to Canada this time around. He was here with his brother and Princess Diana, when a child and they took the Maid of the Mist boat ride to the bottom of the falls... smile

I really think this is a wonderful idea, although a tad distrubed that there is a bar on the route!! ALthough the army is necessary to learn structure of sorts, I believe he will be a hit whatever country he visits on behalf of Her Majesty and the monarchy.
Now I would like to see William doing the same thing...perhaps to Australia and" a mending fences, strengthening bonds" type of tour!! Of course Canada will always welcome these two...
You lucky people, who are going to be seeing this Prince!!

Well, tickets apparently went on sale today, but I checked the website and it still says "check back..."

I went to the Governor's Island website and it says:

Quote
Saturday, May 30th: Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic, 2:30 PM
The Manhattan Polo Classic returns to Governors Island for the second consecutive year. The match is free and open to the public.

How are they going to raise money if the match is free?

Ok, more research - everything I'm reading says that the match is free but there is a ticketed VIP tent.

^where can you buy those tickets i wonder?  although it might be a members only thing.  but i've got a pup tent...we can have our own VIP Forum Members Only tent. 1

here's some shots of Governors Island.  very cool place for a polo match.
http://www.governors-island.net/images/galleries/webvg/Aerial%5B1%5D.jpg
http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2007/12/19/automobiles/20governors-600.jpg
^you can see the Statue of Liberty in the background.

i'm probably worrying unnecessarily but why is there so little news of this?  there's nothing about it at the POW website or royal.gov.  the DM seems to have broken the story and...well...you know...

all of the articles say that "details are still being worked out" but i was under the impression that these things are planned out months in advance.

so is it really happening? unsure

forgive the double post but this blurb disgusted me enough to want it to have its own post. dry
This chukka isn’t pukka--Daily Mail (scroll down)
Quote
What half-wit is advising Prince Harry?

I ask only because the Prince makes his first charity trip to the U.S. next week to raise funds for his HIV/Aids charity, Sentebale.

A worthy cause, no doubt (even if only £84,000 out of a total £1 million in donations actually went to the orphans of Lesotho during the charity’s first 18 months).

But guess what sort of fundraiser Harry’s attending? A polo match — truly, the sport of millionaires.

This, at a time when the real world is in the middle of a crippling recession.

How much more out of touch could Harry be made to seem?

since the DM never posts my comments i thought i'd add it here....
In reguards to your condemnation of the Sentebale fundraiser - who besides wealthy people has the money in the "middle of a crippling recession" to drum up a large amount of money for such a worthy cause?  In a time when charities are suffering for lack of donations you have no business to condemn Prince Harry or anyone else for trying to help.

honestly.  talk about half-wits.
