I think she looks pretty much the way she always looks. Can't see any major changes. But most importantly: she was there!

Jayhawk, I can't help but to agree. If you compare them to last years, Kate was smiling and this year she just does not. Why?

I would too, totally affected after the worldwide media decides to publish her rollerdisco fall  Me thinks it will take her a while to get over it  Although I do think measures where taken after the cellphone incident. |

Wannabe, I hope so as she does not seem like the same person w/o her smile! Like you said who can blame her really? The press have really been horrible to her and her family, but atleast it seems like she is being protected from the media scrutiny. I really hope things work out for Kate and William.

She smiles sometimes, but to me, she doesn't look like she smiles with her eyes anymore. There is an underlying bitterness or something.
There used to be a sparkle there, for instance when she went to the Boodles Boxing Ball most recently. She was still her previous, natural self. At the roller disco, she still was a little bit perky, although that was after PW had announced he would be going into the RAF, I believe, so I think she was a little bit off her game going into the event, but still perky. I think her attitude now is the result of the Roller Disco embarrassment, the talking on cell phone while possibly driving incident, miscellaneous criticism over the months, and the most recent James b-day incident, not to mention whatever other rejection she might have received behind the scenes if she and PW are "friends" these days, and nothing more.
In short, her face has hardened, after some hard life lessons IMO.
I watched the movie the Way We Were this weekend, and although the characters were very different than PW and KM, the sad yearning at the end made me think of KM.

Maybe she's having a bad day? Maybe as Wannabe and Satrine said she's been badly burned by the press and is insecure now. If I was in Kate's shoes I would tell the press to go to hell and never smile for them again. If W & K were over she wouldn't have bothered to attend the match...just like Chelsy isn't there.

I don't think she's having a bad day, her Whisky Mist picture with William during Christmas gave the shut off look (her slanted eye look to the camaras and not amused) to the paps, the restaurant photos. The rest of the candid pictures she looks fine (Sandringham, Heathrow with Wills returning from New Year Scotland holiday, Heathrow with family returning from ski trip). I think she is aware the paps are at the polo and STILL feels uncomfortable of their presence after the RD fall. I understand W&H will play polo for charity only. Their next confirmed ?! match will be in July according to this Telegraph article written by Richard Eden. And at Tiggy's (their ex nanny) parents place. Look at the pics Britt has for her sig, I think it changed after the wedding in Austria, then Disco and now she seems like someone who has experienced great loss. I am not saying it's because of William either. There is just no way of really knowing what has been going on behind the scenes.

I didn't see anybody else was smiling that much either. Are they all bitter? In most of the pictures she is by herself. Why should she walk around smiling? When she's with Tom she's smiling. Poor Kate, once she shows her face to the public, they start seeing all kinds of things. If she was laughing and smiling to the photographers, we know exactly what some people would say. And I personally think the roller disco pictures are veryfar from her mind. She is not reading this forum. And only here are they an issue.
I think it's such a good sign that she is out and about in the public with William. They have a plan that they stick to, that is obvious.

I am not fond of her fashion on both the older and the new set of pictures, however she did look better last year. In these new pictures she looks tired, unhappy and rougher than ever. I hope everything is fine with her.
Her sister, on the other hand, looks very pretty.

It is looked there weren't too many people and quite ugly weather.What weather was in England?Cloudy?I don't know, it seems to me, she does another extreme, not smile, not grin.Gee, why aren't people natural.Wills is the same, stone and frost.I laughing of Hazza and his pinkie nails,but he sits min.in the car with his beehive hairdo to the top of vehicle and he eats like human being.Kate wanders with glass of champagne [always cover it at party when they snap you, not walking like boozing Keanu Reeves, when leaving Indian restaurant with bottle of wine and glasses].I don't know,last year they sit in the tent, sipping champagne - Katie Waitie and Chelsy Davy, OK, posh polo club, is it tradition, do it, if you can walk, hospitality is here and it is called hospitality tent, not blow dry for prince Harry.But walking with flute of champagne is maybe allowed at garden party.I haven't comment to her clothes, why?it is seems normal.Only Wills is like frozen.The best, Hazza's hairdo beehive:]]   |

I mean I thought she's look fine in the other pics, at one point in the car during the Whisky Mist pictures she's laughing but they were all laughing at that point so I'm thinking they saw or heard something funny but ya whenever she's aware papz are around she looks not angry just not too fond of them but when they're hidden and she doesn't know they are there she seems fine, atleast from the pictures I've been checking out. Yes I'm aware at a point she did smile for the papz but I think alot of people do that in beginning but later it gets tiring especially if they write/say mean things about you. |

The paps have given Kate a hard time especially over the last year. I'm not surprised she's not smiling at them and looking nervous. Wouldn't you feel a bit paranoid if you were walking around in front of people who have spent the last year taking you to pieces?  |
