Prince Charles wanted to visit several months ago. He is involved in several charities in Canada, through his Prince of Wales Trust. One of those charities raises funds for scholarships which benefits Canadians who wish to attend University.
The Prince of Wales Trust is not solely for Britons, it is for the whole world, including Canada.

Well, IF someone from royal family has to visit to maintain a show of interest, let it be Prince William, or Prince Harry.Barring those two, ..... Prince Edward and his wife come often to Canada and are always welcome... Prince Andrew had ties, by attending a private school in Lakefield Ontario and has been back as recently as last year for a visit, which included a round of golf at a local course, and is accepted.... However, Charles comes with too much baggage,( more ways then one) and lost much respect from the Cdn People throughout his behaviour through the Diana era. Then to compound his bad behaviour, he married his partner in crime... I'm NOT the only Cdn who feels this way... Britt, if you are also saving money by his not going, I would certainly spearhead a mini riot to keep him home....Please do your best!!

Well, our local daily paper, The St. Catharine's Standard , has published the fact that The POW and his wife will be visiting the Niagara region and Niagara on the Lake. Niagara on the Lake, was the first capital of Canada, but moved to Ottawa, before Parliament ever sat. It's one of the oldest and last British Bastions in Canada other then Victoria BC. So not surprised they will be stopping here.We have had Sophie and Edward, The QM several times, and of course Her Majesty and Prince Philip . They will also go right past my home...In November I will not feel like sitting outside to wave them on, not that I would have done that with these two anyway, however, I could have marched back and forth with a placard of sorts with Diana's, William and Harry's photo on it!!A few weeks yet before they arrive so I'll try and think of something appropriate....

They will also go right past my home... A white bedsheet hanging from a second story window with a large "D" under a crown might be nice.

... wish you were here!!! Thanks for the invite, but I have better things to do than see two adulterers in public. Good luck on your ideas! Still, I'm sure there'll be a large turn out.

Seriously? It is part of their job to visit commonwealth nations. Exactamundo, Jen! It still floors me, though. It seems like people are more offended when celebrities misbehave than when members of their own families do it. But oh well. I wish they'd come to the US. Maybe just swing by Rhode Island on the way back from Canada? That'd be awesome. And about the only interesting thing to ever happen here. Lol.

Sillyjobug they can go to Rhode Island it is a lovely state. As a child I used to go to Newport to visit my Godmother and later when I married My now ex husband was stationed at NETC in Newport I really miss living there.Though it is now more touristy the last time I was there people were walking the middle of Belleview from the tennis hall of fame to the mansions. and I actually couldn't believe they opened a Burger King in the Brick Market Place. I also love Providence. However when they came to New York I still can't believe the outfit Cams wore at Ground Zero how inappropriate I for one hope they don't come back any time soon though I would welcome Harry again.

Still and all, I would sooner it were The Duke of Edinburgh coming to present his award!! Or William, on behalf of his father, to give out any awards..just NOT this man! Thanks Trudie... Perhaps I could merely do the perimeter of my property with Diana's picture on placards

That's It Kate just make sure every likeness is gigantic enough to be seen. You can also PM those of us who apprieciate your feelings with pictures of your handiwork It was especially nice of him to schedule this trip knowing HM is visiting in the New Year and passing the cost on to the Canadians for the flights.

I wouldn't mind seeing them. I am a huge Diana fan but I'll be realistic here and admit that I have nothing against Prince Charles and Camilla I've sorta just accepted the whole thing. Plus it's not like I'll ever get a chance to see them again so why miss the opportunity. The only other thing that could top it for me is if William came. Well he did but I was super young back then and wasn't interested in the royals.

The Canadians have my deepest sympathy they are going to pay the cost of this trip whether they want him there or not simply because he wants to grace the citizens with his presence and his own interest in retaining for the firm the title of Head of the Commonwealth.

You don't know what he wants. He's going because his Government says he is to go.

Sorry , Daibando, they DO need permission to visit! They need an invitation from the Canadian Government and the Cdn Government "suggests" the area they are to visit! The Monarchy has been hinting for some time and asking WHY the gruesome twosome have not been "INVITED" to Canada... The Canadian Monarcy Leaque have been requesting for ages a visit from the POW, but it is only after 4 years of marriage, and LOW profile in the UK, of Camilla, that the invitation has been sent. "THEY" are hoping that, in the back waters of Canada, ( althought NOTL is NOT backwaters, but quite prominent) there is some support for this couple. SO , coming to a destination of prominence, and out of their own country, they are hoping to build the reputation of the POW and his mistress wife into a positive thing..We have a town mayor, who is "backwater in his own right" but luckily enough to have been born in the UK and can milk it for all its worth...
