vivienne, I think you're absolutely correct.  I believe it was her idea to move to the UK and not his or it would have been a more coordinated effort.
^well i should certainly hope it was her idea! ^_^

I've never understood the excuse that Harry could not visit her for security reasons. From what I understand -- and please correct me if I'm wrong -- she moved after her first term when Harry (or his security detail) voiced concerns over the security and/or living situation in her first flat. So she moved. Apparently to another flat where the security was again questionable.
you're probably right but i dont quite remember that.  from what i recall articles were first saying she was going to be living in a nice big expensive house in a great area etc. etc. etc.  although that may have been when she was first set for Bristol.  in either case she went to Leeds and lived in that same flat with a few of her friends throughout her whole time at Leeds.  unless i'm forgetting something she never moved.

It seems to me that there is a strange disconnect not only between Chelsy and Harry's protection staff but from Harry as well.
girlfriends are not (and should not) be covered by royal security.  its paid for by tax money and a non-royal benefiting from it would be a HUGE fire breathing scandal. laugh  i dont think the Queen would ever be foolish enough to allow it.  it's come up in rumor now and then that their gfs have royal protection but i sincerely doubt if its true.  their bodyguards will keep an eye out on their home security only when the princes are in those homes.

Why not get these things hammered out before she even moves to the country? It seems to me Chelsy was getting toyed with (at the very least neglected) by both Harry and his staff...
I think Harry dropped the ball here. He should have had his staff coordinate with Chelsy and her family about a suitable place for her to live.
i think it was more she and her parents responsibility to get her settled in.  she also had some friends already there who would have helped her get situated.  she was living with friends and never moved....i think she was probably happy with it.  Harry lent a hand by picking her up from the airport but....yeah...that turned into a bit of a mess.

this article says she moved her final year:

I suggested that she could have coordinated with his staff regarding a suitable place to stay, rather than be protected by them. A couple of phone calls would have done it.

I agree the parents should have shown some interest just where/area, Chelsy got settled in, however, if she was having this much of a problem with the courtiers, then I think Prince Harry should have spoken up and asked which area would be safer for all concerned!!.. As stated, a couple of phone calls on even Harry's part, would have resolved the issue...
