What people remember Henry VIII for is:  Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived.  As well as the dissolution of the monasteries.

Funny the way you put that but tragic for his queens.  There's a certain rhythm to it -- as if following the cyclical moods of Henry VIII.  No doubt it's for sure his last wife must have been quite brave or cavalier to take him on.

Quote
Charles will not be remembered for his good deeds, including the Prince's Trust, but for his marriage to Diana
Again, I agree.  As time wears on, Diana will not be remembered for her good works but her personal life in the same way Charles shall be remembered for his personal life.
I beg to differ.  Diana is and will be remembered for her good works and the breath of fresh air she represented to the monarchy.  Every time William or Harry go out and do their thing, it's like watching Diana all over again.  THAT'S what the people want, as was evident when William toured NZ and Australia.

And if there's anything to be remembered regarding Diana's personal life, it is they way her husband denied her a chance at a happy married life.  People remember that and it's the reason Charles and Camilla aren't very popular.  Every time people look at William and Harry, they remember the mother they lost so tragically, and the reasons for it.

Extremely well put Ursula

William and Harry did lose their mother in a tragic accident.  She was divorced from Prince Charles, she had custody of her children, she had a multi million dollar divorce settlement and millions of men would have married her and treated her as she deserved to be treated.  She made the choice to go to Paris with Dodi Fayed and the accident happened there.  The tragedy is that she could have had a wonderful life after the divorce but was cut down in a terrible accident.

I think Charles has William's popularity on his mind and he's trying to become warm and fuzzy.   Tongue

It looks like more from CH.

The kids look thrilled to bits.

It does, doesn't it.  How ironic, he's seems to be acting silly, yet he use to scold Diana for occassionally being silly, my how times have changed.

How true!  And when you add the insincerity factor, it makes it even worse.

AND..............I can just imagine Camilla encouraging Charles to act this way, yet when Diana was doing it (and she was the REAL deal) I bet Camilla supported HIS stuffiness.
