Thank you, Ella Kay. Ermilinda, with all due respect, I'm not sure what your youtube video has to do with the topic of this thread. According to the Clarence House guide book, the portrait of George Bernard Shaw was acquired by CH in 1938.

with all due respect I am sure it is on topic. There are some people who would like to know "who & what" a George Bernard Shaw is... and why he hanging in the CH gallery... and in the portait of PW & PH.

Well, when you bring Hitler into it, I think it's as relevant as the table Harry is leaning against.

Probably his portrait is hanging in Clarence House because he's a famous, Nobel-winning Irish playwright, Ermalinda. Ever heard of Arms and the Man? Or Pygmalion -- you know, that one that My Fair Lady was based on?

It's a good portrait ... But has Prince Harry really got hands about a quarter of the size of Prince William's?

William's is very off-putting to me. Why is it half in shadow?? And his face looks too narrow. The eyes also look too close together and maybe a little bit too small. And it almost looks like he has bags under his eyes, like he looks tired. Wanderlust, interesting comments, because when I first saw the portrait it appeared to me that the Artist was trying to emphasize William's Windsor side. Wonder if the artist had a secret crush on Harry and painted him in a bit more of a flattering way I thought that too.

looks like its true about Harry's nose being broken.... First portrait of Princes Harry and William--Associated PressPhilipps also said she was pleased with the profile of Harry and the depiction of his nose, which was broken during a rugby match when he was being schooled in Eton.
Palace officials confirmed that Harry suffered the injury, which was never made public, when he was about 15

I didn't know that Prince Harry had a broken nose... Don't recall any news articles. Thanks Stix Chix..
The portrait is lovely and Ms Phillipps certainly produced an amazing piece of work..

double post but 3 days between. a little detail about their sittings with Nicky. the title makes it sound like they were bored but Nicky said they weren't... Prince William and Harry's portrait boredom--M&CShe told Hello! magazine: "I didn't know what sort of music they liked. So I played some Duffy and music from my own era, like Fleetwood Mac and Bryan Ferry. I don't know if they enjoyed it but they didn't look bored. Some people's eyes glaze over when they sit for long period but they were very polite."

Video interview with the painter of the portrait and reporter Neil Sean. The painter talked about what it was like working with them ("very charismatic, lots of laughing") Neil Sean says Prince Harry uses a picture of the portrait as his screensaver on his laptop. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQCAhnAK0HU&feature=player_embedded

^cool! i have it as my desktop. a couple funny little tidbits from Nicky about painting the princes. the last line is hilarious. A stain on her reputation--Daily Mail (scroll down) The Princes clambered out of the car in full view of a row of builders who were having a tea break. Not a single builder reacted as the two young men in full uniform, plus swords and spurs and caps and gleaming boots, clanked into the small terrace house. ^i think they mainly react to women in short dresses.
