Thought you might be interested in this visit so I'm about to start this new thread with what I am just now hearing via the media.
So far we've had nothing on PW coming to our shores but now it's only nine days away and things are starting to hot up. Not too much yet.

So here's today's bulletin.

PW arrives 19 Jan from N.Z.
He's made it clear of his interests during this visit which are:
Live firing session with Troops in Sydney and a private-meeting with special-force soldiers.
A visit to a Sydney Community Centre for the indigenous.
Speech for Australia Day in Melbourne.

So far that's it, but will keep you all posted. smile

Calling Lady63! As you are an Ausssie too, I may need to have you as backup once I get overwhelmed with replies to what I've just started. Please? smile

I think his trip will be a huge success - I really do.  And how much do you want to bet that pictures from 1983 will be plastered all over the place?  I suspect there will be smiles and joy at BP with a bit of mumbling coming from CH.    Tongue

Thank you for keeping us posted, Lindelle!
I'm sure the stories will start to pick up since today's engagements were such a huge success and the birthday speculation is slowly fading away.

thanks Lindelle!   aside from journalists, what are people you've spoken to/overheard saying about his visit?  are they excited?  or pretending not to be? Wink

Sorry Stix, no-one's mentioned anything about it. Sad

Even my own husband ask me why was he coming out here?

I didn't bother to answer him  Not amused!

Small snippet in todays paper. Found it on page 11 and hardly worth reading. Really it was so small I was lucky to find it.

PW will enjoy a bbq at Sydneys Royal Botanic Gardens.

Will spend 2 days in Sydney and 1 in Melbourne in his INFORMAL visit.

Our Tourism Minister said we are excited he's coming and could not say where he'd be staying due to security reasons.

That's all folks.

Still no other mention of him by anyone. I'm beginning to wonder if ANYONE'S excited.

maybe you could inspire others to get excited about it?  hang up some flags and welcome signs.  at worst they'll think you're a monarchist....which isn't a bad thing anyway. Wink

Oops sorry Lindelle for not helping out early, just found the post.  Actually I'm not too impressed with this current visit.  A whole lot of security for little interaction with the public.  And even if it had been a full blown visit, I still don't think he needs this much security, (his father and step mother on the other hand might have laugh ).  Nope, imho to me this is really a waste of time and money.  It would have been better if he and his brother had teamed up and made a full on tour of both Australia and New Zealand, now that would have really set the republican cause back imho (though that kind of tour imho would have well and truly put his father's nose out of joint because to be honest if he and Camilla come down here imho I don't think they will get the kind of reception that Charles and Diana ever got, nor that Diana got when she came her on her own, ah the good old days, now they were imho royal tours).

I do hope though that while William is here, he has a great time and enjoys some of the sights we have on offer, though the weather at present is quite warm and steamy at present and not a snowflake to be seen.

Regards,
Lady63

Just had 'A Current Affair' on telly.
It's a short nightly show which highlights weekly events and such.....................
They mentioned Wills visit but excitement is not building.

A royal correspondent from England (the little old chubby one with the eyebrows - WHAT are they about?), has told our team of reporters that Wills asked his grandmother if he could go to Australia, she said yes and she's paying for it. He also said (the one the eyebrows), that he doesn't believe Kate is the one for William. He added, "They MAY get married, but I don't believe she's really right for him. Wouldn't it be nice to see an Australian girl take her place?" Re said that Kate should be worried and that she's probably going to be sweating whilst he's away.

Now IMO, that's just going to start the media on a roll. And probably tells a lot of what's really going on between W&K.
He should've asked  her by now.

IT'S TRUE!!!!!!!! I DIDN'T MAKE IT UP.

That's all folks.

Lady63,
Can't say i'm overwhelmed either. Wills just doesn't do it for me.
