^what do you mean? what is he not supposed to not say? its cool that Harry gets to be the first member of the RF to take part in the awards. Prince Harry For The Brits--MTV.ukPrince Harry to Attend Brit Awards--CBSPrince Harry to send video message to Brit Awards--M&CWell I guess he really likes the celebrity world. they do go to a lot of the same clubs and charity events. its really nothing new....royals have been hobnobbing with celebs waaaay before Harry was even born. both use it to their advantage. the royals not only get more attention and support for their charities but also have a popular actor or musician who might be willing to preform at their charity events. Charles is especially good at that!

Seems to me that the royal machine is working hard to align the princes with modern culture and show them as the modern "accessible" face of monarchy. Apologies to all harryites, but I'm sceptical about things like this. I just see it as a dose of PR to boost the popularity of the emerging faces of the monarchy in the eyes of the next generation. Call me cynical at your will...

The press have given the perfect description of why Harry (and Chelsy) should be there. They do love to go and have been photographed at concerts, brushing shoulders with musical celebrities, x-factor and so on.
I think it will go well for both.

Harry is sending a video message. He is not going personally. Chelsy is current at LPC working He is being a part of this not because he wants to hob nob with celebrities. But because the Brit Awards help raise millions of charities. This is a charity event not an excuse to hang around with celebrities

In every article I have read it says he will make a VIDEO message. The Brits are celebrating their 30th Birthday and he wants to commend them on the charity work they have done. In the clip, which will be aired at the Earls Court venue in London and on television broadcasts of the event, the Prince is set to praise the awards and the BRIT Trust, which helps fund the BRIT School in Croydon. "The BRITs is a celebration of all that is totally outstanding and unique about British music," he says in the message. "And what’s less well known about the BRIT Awards is the fantastic work it does raising millions of pounds for the BRIT Trust, which has benefited thousands of young people to develop their talents and generally enrich our society." CBS is the only one that says he or Chelsy will be there. I prefer to go with the 100's of other articles and he spokesperson who says he won't, as well as the reason why he will be giving the message.

I hope they don't attend. His attendence won't endear him to the millions of under-privileged young people in this country who will just see a spoilt prince and his friends rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous, whilst disguising it under the pretence of charity work. If the monarchy wants to endear themselves to the people, why don't they start on a grass roots level? They shouldn't be targeting glitzy music shows, but spending time with local communities. Centrepoint doesn't count. It's those citizens that will decide whether or not to keep Will and Harry in their day jobs. Not BBC/ITV bosses. That would be the smart way to begin.

Why give a speech by video if your going to show up? It will probably be just a video. Although I don't see anything wrong with occasionally hobnobbing with certain celebrities. Certain celebrities have a done wonderful work and given enormous amounts of money and support to charities.

Call me cynical at your will... you could be right. i dont see it as cynical though....it actually sounds like a pretty good idea. i dont think its all PR though. love it or lump it but celebrity gets quite a lot of UK honors. with so many musicians and actors being made knights and dames it makes sense that a member of the RF would be on hand to mark the music awards 30th anniversary. and it makes double sense that they'd chose one of the Wales brothers to do it since they are younger. besides it was probably MTV who came to the palace asking if someone could help them mark the occasion. In every article I have read it says he will make a VIDEO message. CBS is the only one that says he or Chelsy will be there.
I prefer to go with the 100's of other articles and he spokesperson who says he won't, as well as the reason why he will be giving the message. ditto. who knows, maybe Chelsy'll show up but i doubt if Harry will. Harry's not above the odd act of ad libbing but these things are planned so far in advance i think that if he could have gone in person to the awards to give the message then he'd be doing that instead of the video message. i think the CBS article (which is finally spelling Chelsy's name right i see ) got the idea from when they went to XFactor. its hardly a shock that Harry's attending a concert in an official capacity. it's not exactly the first time. 2002: Queen's Golden Jubilee concert 2006: Prince's Trust 30th anniversary concert 2007: Concert For Diana 2009: Sound Relief, Australia bushfire fundraiser (gave message with William) 2010: Haiti We Care Barbados Concert + Brit Awards i'm tempted to count dancing on stage in a monkey suit this summer....but that's never been confirmed and it was a private visit anyway.

Good heavens.......I don't quite understand why posters would look down on Harry liking celebrities or even hobnobbing with them. I can't think of any royal who doesn't do that including the Queen. Lets see, aside from;Harry, William, Charles, Andrew, Edward, Anne and the Queen: George VI, George V and Edward VII come to mind. There's even a name for it.....'networking'. Good to get to know people especially those who may one day assist you in your charity work in the future. This report confused me. According to Neil Sean, both H & C were going. I didn't approve of that because the Brit Awards can be quite raucous. I think it was Jarvis Cocker who once mooned the late Michael Jackson, and John Prescott then deputy prime minister had a bucket of cold water thrown over him. There is always someone who wants to make a point consequently, I didn't like the idea of Harry going. However, the latest reports say he is just sending a video message. Which I prefer to him going. Although, I shall be interested in the reception of this as I suspect it maybe mixed as royalty is not 'in' at the present time. So if it is better than mixed then that's great. Stix Chix.

Just a thought, could Harry be sending an official video message, and either attending in the audience like any other spectator with Chelsy, or maybe he's sending the video message & Chelsy is attending w/friends in the audience, like one of her X factor appearences?

^we'll find out for sure on the 16th. i'm guessing it'll be just a video message and no personal attendance. but i'm hoping it'll start as a video message but then he suddenly comes bursting onto stage and starts dancing.

Plus there was that dancing in a gorilla suit on stage over the summer. I wouldn't mind seeing him in action again, just to get more evidence of his dancing abilities, or lack thereof.
